
The super long attack range makes them far more effective actually focusing down targets and delivering their DPS consistently, unlike a grunt that might only be attacking 1/5 of its time in a fight. What really sticks out for archers is that when you look at those raw numbers for the damage and attack range and EHP, archers are quite overtuned at dealing massive amounts of piercing damage compared to other early tier units. That they can be picked up is really a property of hippogryphs, not the archers. The range increase on bows and riflemen arguably is mechanical since it lets you kite more effectively, but its barely thereĪrchers are really just a one-ability unit: Shadowmeld. Not the simple damage/armor/life like elune's grace, marksmanship or for that matter orc berserker rage or others.


These statistical upgrades aren't mechanical upgrades and don't change how a unit actually plays.
